Having not long returned from work where I catered to an awards ceremony I felt the urge to blog. The awards dinner was a rather formal affair and so this called for kilts and tuxedo's. One of the many great things about living in Scotland is the fact that men can wear multicolored skirts and actually look incredibly dashing (...in fact I daresay Sexy. Damn sexy).
I also took a trip to London last week and while I still love the city I was suddenly hit with how lonely it could be. With all the thousands of people living there and constantly being bombarded by pedestrians left, right and center - particularly if, like me, you occasionally confuse your left from your right and walk on the wrong side - if you don't actually know anyone you can feel so alone. It began to feel as though each new face I saw was a reminder that I was on my own there. It made me realise that if (or preferably when) I do make the move there I will be starting from scratch.
I was only there for one night and barely had time to catch my breath from all the running around I did and the underground STILL confuses me! I needed to find an internet cafe and after wandering around for the best part of an hour looking for it I gave up and took the underground to the nearest station to it...it turned out I was two doors down to begin with! I will figure it out one day!
Another disaster happened when I was buying some mid-evening snacks from the Tesco next to the hotel. I had decided I didn't need a basket (once again momentarily forgetting I have only evolved to the stage where I have two hands not ten) and had crouched down to pick up an apple, except, just when I thought I was balancing to perfection I wobbled and literally fell with a thud on my bum...in the middle of Tesco...in London...Looking back it does make me giggle but at the time I was, as you can imagine, mortified.
Oh, look who I met when I took a trip to the London Film Museum...
...this was actually the original costume used in the movies. I had to stop myself from jumping up and down on the spot. I also caught glimpses of R2D2 and C3PO resting in an actual piece of the set (!) but due to issues with George Lucas charging royalties for photo's I couldn't take any. There was the option to have professional photo's taken so I am now being forced to drag along some poor hapless soul to smile nicely while I go mad and yield a lightsaber while grinning like a loony for a photo.
Well, my laptop battery is about to die and I feel that I've rattled on enough about useless things (once again!)
May the force be with you *grins*
xoxo
